    Best computer speakers

The model two used as computer speakers for I Mac computer is the best of any that one can buy. At $300 direct from Tivoli these speakers are the best buy. With an AM,FM tuner and auxiliary inputs, also with a mix input for the computer and a record output to record or to use as a tuner output for a stereo receiver,is versatility that ordinary great sounding powered speakers don't offer. Also! A subwoofer can be added to the Model two! The sound is smooth and open and neutral. The bass is all there without boom. With computer speakers blue tooth is really not needed. The blue con receiver can be added to this from Tivoli,if desired, for blue tooth. I think many would prefer a disc player or an Internet Grace tuner hooked to the aux input. The mix input is great for the computer when the computer is on alone and played in the auxiliary mode. This is a very high fidelity piece of equipment. The model two is an audio classic sounding radio and great tuner for a stereo receiver, perfect for computer speakers,I know of no product with versatility and utility like it. I forgot it also has a headphone jack for stereo headphones or to be used as a variable volume output.

    Great little system!

I have had this system for several years (including the subwoofer) and have been tremendously pleased with it. At the time, I couldn't afford a full blown stereo system, nor did I have the space for it, so I decided to take this and "run with it". Not only do I have the subwoofer hooked up to it, I also plug my TV into it (huge improvement in the sound!) and have a turntable hooked in there as well. I literally adapted this so-called "table radio" into a complete stereo system. And it all sounds good too! This is truly a fantastic product and I can only think that it has improved since I purchased it. Only drawback is that the numbers on the radio tuning dial are very difficult to see because the print does not stand out very well. I noticed though, somewhere along the line, the models that are available now have this minor inconvenience corrected. Buy one and be amazed!

    A classic choice

I've had the model two for at least ten years, and probably longer. Loved it when I got it, and love it still. First the pros: It looks great. The tuner dial feels classy and silky smooth. It pulls in stations pretty well. And the sound is great. I prefer it to my Bose Sound dock when listening to my phone. And it's good old fashioned analog. Works without having to remember button push orders and all that stuff. So perfect, right?

Well, I have a couple of beefs, and one observation. First of all, for this amount of money, the radio should come with WiFi. The chips are dirt cheap now, so no reason not to include it. Second is the price itself. It is high in my opinion. Especially when the Model 1 is half the price but has most of the costly electronic guts in it's cabinet. Which leads to my observation. If I were doing this again, I would get the single speaker Model 1. You still get great sound and looks, you get rid of the wiring between the speakers, and you save a nice chunk of change.

Nonetheless, after all these years I still take real pleasure in having and using this radio. How many products can you say that about? Not a purchase that will be regretted.

    Model Two Review

Purchased a gently used, full blown Model Two three years ago from eBay which included the main AM/FM unit, the right speaker, the CD player and the subwoofer.

Operating conditions: I live in a rural area in a brick house which is a difficult test of FM radio reception. I never listen to the AM band and therefore offer no comments about AM performance.

Strengths: Overall audio quality (CD playback and frequency response) is outstanding for a tabletop radio considering its size. FM sensitivity is very good
(distant stations tune in well.) The remote control is engineered very well. The external workmanship is beautiful with its wood cabinets, dials, and indicator lights.

Weaknesses: FM selectivity (the ability of the radio to positively tune in stations close to each other) is poor using the analog tuning dial. Tuned FM stations tend to drift and fade despite using an external antenna.

Another drawback is the modular design which requires a large number of interconnecting cables and multiple power supplies. The plastic on-off switches are another weakness: they are easily chewed up and rendered useless if roughly handled but the company's customer service is very good about replacing them.

Overall I am pleased with the Model Two and use it every day.

    Wonderful small hi-fi stereo

I love my Model Two! I have had it for several years. My dad was an audiophile in the sixties and built his own stereos. The only thing that ever sounded as good as his stuff was a true $20K audiophile system I heard at a friend's--and this comes pretty close for a fraction of the price and size. I have the subwoofer and the CD player that go with this. I have also used it with my iPod and with a device that sends audio around the house (a Squeezebox). I am happy to see it is still for sale, because I always fear that ours will get stolen or ruined or something. Don't ever stop making it. I have the second speaker more than 8 ft away from the first, and I keep them just below ear level. That may help room acoustics. Feel free to quote me or send me a present. (LOL)

Best Table top stereo radio system

I have had this model for about 8 years, buzzing sound was coming from one of the speakers, sent it back for repair, company replaced it with the new one, how wonderful, thank you. I really recommend this radio, it sounds so big, connect your Ipod to it, and you will see.

    Well beyond a radio

Today I received my Model Subwoofer to go with the Model 2 I purchased several weeks ago. I have enjoyed a Model 1 for over 10 years, and this is the beauty of Kloss' design: you can have a small, mono radio on your desk or a very effective stereo system which rivals the best. I have loved audio since I built my first amp at age 16; now I can truthfully say that the Model 2 with Subwoofer competes well with my main Bang and Olufsen system. Upper midrange and treble are smooth and clear, there is a full lower midrange from the main speakers, and more than adequate base from the sub. Some say the feature are limited, but plug in an Airport Express as I have or Tivoli's own Bluetooth into the auxiliary input, and you have streaming audio and full remote to complement the manual controls. Detailed, clear, full and rich are proper adjectives. Plus, the system has a small footprint and elegant looks. I am extremely happy with the combination of Model 2 and Model Subwoofer.

    Retro minimalism meets Airplay

I received my first Model Two today, in white, having had a Model One for over a decade. I began my interest in audio at age 15 building my first stereo amp, and despite systems of all sizes, my Model One always simply sounded excellent, with that signature Henry Kloss sound. And now in stereo with the Model Two! I added an Airplay Express and now have the best of Tivoli's superb sound and digital flexibility. My Model One now has Airplay plus vinyl, The Model Two is warm and rich, a very close second to our B&O 6000 speakers, not an easy task for their size and price. If you need an Airplay speaker system, avoid the others, add an Express to a Tivoli and you will be in audio ecstasy; or simply listen to it as a radio. Either way, their products are, in my opinion, some of the very best.

    Outstanding sound, design, service

It says "table radio," but my Model Two is my main stereo system. When I moved into a small downtown condo, I downsized my stereo system too. I'm a classical music critic, so accurate acoustic sound is very important to me, and the Model Two supplies all the strength, warmth and clarity I need in listening to classical, jazz, rock and every other kind of music. It easily fills the space with gorgeous sound.
I connect it directly to my computer, or run it remotely via an old Apple Airport Express router, which essentially converts the Model Two into wireless speakers controlled by my computer, iPad or iPhone via the Remote app. That makes the lack of a remote control less annoying.
In a small space, there's no room to hide ugly stuff, and the fact that the Tivoli colors and minimalist midcentury mod design match my adjacent Mac setup and other decor is a welcome bonus, but really, it's the rich sound that matters.

Finally, budget buyers should realize that you're buying not just a radio and stereo / computer speaker set up -- but also responsive customer service. I originally ordered my refurbished Model Two from Tivoli's Outlet Store, but the right channel wasn't working when it arrived. Tivoli immediately emailed me a prepaid return label, and a few days later, a brand new, not refurbished, Model Two arrived, and it's working beautifully.
With so many people moving back to the city these days to enjoy its cultural offerings, the Tivoli Model Two provides the ideal combination of power and clarity for smaller living spaces.
