Tivoli Audio experiences NBA All-star Weekend
19 Feb 2020
Last week we were lucky to take part in some of the festivities at NBA All-Star Weekend, a celebration that has evolved beyond the love of the game and instead celebrates the game and the culture surrounding it.
Working with the team at SHO Basketball, an affiliate of Showtime, we created custom VIP Andiamo speakers for the first-ever live taping of the podcast All the Smoke with Matt Barnes & Stephen Jackson. These two respected voices of the NBA interviewed Kevin Garnett, and they spoke about his career and the evolution of the game and the culture.
After the live taping our CEO, Paul DePasquale, got to sit down with Matt and Stephen to talk about podcasting, music, and culture. More on that on a future Behind the Dial episode.
Throughout the weekend there were many pop-up shops and brand collaborations to experience. Converse’s experience pop-up and release of new and customizable options under their creative All-Star series celebrating creativity and culture was one of our favorites. So was Public Enemy and Def Jam Recording’s collaborations with PUMA on some limited-edition speakers and clothing line to commemorate the label and groups place in Hip Hop History. Both of these pop-ups show how influential the game is on culture and music and vice versa.
The highlight of our trip was sitting down with Boston Celtic’s rookie, Tacko Fall to work on a collaboration effort, launching later this year.
Throughout the weekend we could see it all around us, how music and the game of basketball continue to influence one another and the culture that has sprouted up around it. One does not exist in its current state without the other. Stay tuned for the new Tacko collaboration and our sit down with Matt Barnes & Stephen Jackson.
